A $12 portion of each student's activities fee contributes to a program
that yields the equivalent of $75 worth of tickets to UVA Music and
Drama events and up to three Virginia Film Festival events. It also
entitles students to a membership at the Bayly Art Museum and supports
exhibitions and programs by students and visiting artists in the Department
of Art. See the Performing Arts section
for more.

Check out the Law
School events page for happenings at the Law School, or the UVA
calendar. The University's
Arts Page details the latest arts events, which are too numerous
to mention here. Also try Monticello
Avenue for a calendar of upcoming events and its Arts
page for more resources.

Want
a more active adventure? Check out the Clubs
and Organizations by Sport page for information on skiing,
snow tubing, canoeing, rafting, kayaking, horseback riding, ice
skating, and more.

The Virginia Film Festival
Charlottesville attracts its share of stars, such
as Sissy Spacek, who lives in the area. The stars are never more apparent
than at the annual Virginia Film Festival in October. Besides special
appearances by such luminaries as Anthony Hopkins, Nicolas Cage, and
Roger Ebert, the festival features independent filmmakers like Todd
Haynes and actually premieres some movies. Tickets are about the same
as regular tickets for students. For details, see: www.vafilm.com or
call 1.800.UVA.FEST. The schedule comes out in mid-September.

For the latest on what's happening on the
University culture scene, click on the "Things to do at UVA/News" button
on the UVA home page (www.
virginia.edu/news.html). You may also subscribe to the Internet list serve
regarding University musical events by e-mailing majordomo
@virginia.edu. In the message, write "subscribe" "musiclovers" "end" and
you will be updated on the various events.
