"I think Virginia's intellectual property program is one of the strongest in the nation. In addition to the basic suite of IP courses, we have the opportunity to take advanced courses and seminars, including Antitrust and Intellectual Property, Advanced Issues in Intellectual Property Policy, and International Patent Law. We can also get practical training through seminars like Patent Enforcement and the Patent and Licensing Clinic."

Virginia Journal of Law & Technology (VJOLT)
Virginia Law’s only e-journal, VJOLT, provides a forum for students, professors and practitioners to discuss emerging issues at the intersection of law and technology. Recent issues have included articles on biotechnology, telecommunications, e-commerce, Internet privacy and encryption. VJOLT publishes full-text articles directly to the Web. Because VJOLT publishes full-text articles directly to the Web, its audience is not limited by a fixed number of subscriptions; anyone with Internet access can read current and past articles free of charge on www.vjolt.org.

Virginia Society of Law & Technology (VSLAT)
VSLAT provides a forum for the discussion of issues relating to law and technology through speakers, panels and symposia. Recent events include a student discussion of career opportunities in the field of law and technology and a presentation by private patent practitioners. VSLAT works with the faculty and administration to strengthen the Law School’s intellectual property curriculum and supports students pursuing careers in law and technology.

Related Organizations
The Virginia Law and Business Society explores the nexus between the worlds of law and business and sometimes features speakers on intellectual property topics. The JD-MBA Society serves as a focal point for communication between J.D. and M.B.A. students and sponsors events and activities that promote interaction among the Law and Business School communities.
