Dean JeffriesDean's Message

FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW, MORE THAN 50 PERCENT OF OUR GRADUATES made gifts to the Law School. That record of alumni support is unmatched by any other law school, public or private. For Virginia to lead the way in alumni participation is a remarkable achievement. Historically, graduates of public universities often assumed that they “gave at the office” when they paid taxes. Today, of course, the Law School is financially self-sufficient and receives no state funds. We rely primarily on tuition and secondarily, but crucially, on private giving.

In the pages that follow, you will see what your gifts accomplish. They allow us to compete nationally for leading faculty, to provide much-needed scholarship support for deserving students, and to sponsor the huge variety of events, activities, projects, and publications that make the Law School such a vibrant and exciting place.

In short, your generosity is indispensable. All of us who are privileged to study and work in Charlottesville are deeply grateful.
