Alumna in Stable Condition After Two Die in Clifton Inn Fire
A Virginia Law graduate from the Class of 2002 is in stable condition at the University of Virginia Medical Center and six others escaped safely from an early morning fire at the Clifton Inn, where a group of lawyers from the New York law firm of Willkie Farr & Gallagher were staying on a recruiting trip to Charlottesville. Two other members of the firm's recruiting staff, Billie Kelly and Trish Langlade, died.
Margaret Mansouri, earlier listed as being in critical condition, is now considered stable. Escaping the fire were Jordon Alpert '01, Michelle Clark '02, Bill Grant '70, Dave Karp '00, and Steve Seidman '90.
The group had hosted a private dinner for prospective hires from the School of Law. Willkie Farr is a prestigious international firm based in New York that has been relatively popular with Virginia graduates in recent years, with 12 accepting offers in the last three years.
The cause of the blaze is not yet known. The School of Law has
offered condolences and whatever assistance that may be helpful
to the firm.
