The Law School has tapped Director of Public Service Jason Wu Trujillo as Director of Admissions, and Assistant to the Dean Cindy Burns has been named the new Director of Financial Aid.
Trujillo, who started his new position this week, will also continue to oversee clerkship applications as Director of Judicial Clerkships. As Director of Admissions he will evaluate applications for admission, recruit and counsel prospective students, and travel in fall to college career and graduate fairs across the country.
In her new job Burns will create financial aid packages for prospective students, award scholarships, counsel students on loans and personal budgets, and identify sources of outside scholarships. Burns, who created the Law School’s financial aid database system, will also take over the accounting for public service loan programs.
The Admissions Office received 5,475 applications last year—a 19 percent jump from the previous year. During the same period the Law School gave 434 students $4.4 million in scholarships. First-year scholarship awards have grown by 59 percent since the 2001-02 school year, as the number of first-year students receiving them has increased from 123 to 214.
