Career Services Launches Blog “Caseload”
The Law School’s Office of Career Services is launching a blog designed to address many of the questions students have about the career placement process. Caseload, managed by Director of Career Services Polly Lawson, will give students another avenue to view tips on everything from interviews to accepting an offer.
Lawson noted that Career Services is continually trying to determine the best way to communicate with busy students.
“E-mails are sometimes overlooked, and announcements are often ignored,” Lawson acknowledged. “We felt that creating and maintaining a blog would be a unique way to reach out to students and improve communications with them.”
Like many blogs, Caseload (at http://uvalaw.typepad.com/caseload) organizes posts by categories such as Resumes and Letters, by date, and by most recent posts. Students can subscribe to the blog’s RSS feed (more about feeds) to quickly check what’s new. The site also maintains links to the latest career news from the Law School Web site as well.
Lawson hopes the blog, which will publish posts frequently during the Law School’s most active recruiting periods and leading up to key deadlines, will provide students with timely information.
“Students tend to have similar questions on various topics, so we felt we could help address common questions in a format students would understand,” she said. “This will also allow us to post more frequently on topics as they arise, but in a less-invasive manner than e-mails.”
