Financial Aid Award Instructions (2009-10)

Accessing your 2009-2010 Financial Aid Award Information

All Financial Aid Awards for 2009-2010 will be posted on the new Student Information System (SIS) at https://sisuva.admin.virginia.edu/psp/epprd/EMPLOYEE/EMPL/h/?tab=PAPP_GUEST. To obtain access, click on “SIS Login” and use your computing ID and netbadge password to enter SIS. Once in SIS, click on the “financial aid” tab at the top of the page. Your award information will appear here once it is posted. You will also receive e-mail notification from the Law School Financial Aid Office when your financial aid package is available.

Accepting and Applying for Federal Student Loans

1. All students who have been awarded subsidized and unsubsidized Stafford Loans, and Graduate Plus Loans, must formally accept the loans and provide the Financial Aid Office with lender information using SIS. Please follow the instructions available in SIS. If you wish to borrow an amount that is less than what you were awarded, please make the appropriate notation when you accept the award. Once you submit your award acceptance, you will need to contact the Law School Financial Aid Office for any additional changes.
2. Once you have submitted your award acceptance, please complete required loan applications and Master Promissory Note requirements with your selected lender.

Submitting Other Documents Required for Financial Aid Processing

Please consult your SIS “To Do List” for other documents that are required by the Financial Aid Office to process your financial aid. Students selected for verification by the Department of Education will see a requirement to provide a copy of their 2008 federal tax return in the SIS “To Do List.” Other common items that may be required include proof of citizenship, a copy of your Alien Registration Card, verification of social security number, and computer purchase documentation. All required documents should be submitted to the Law School Office of Financial Aid. Documents can be faxed directly to the financial aid office via a secure fax machine. If You Receive Outside Scholarship Assistance

Any student who receives scholarship assistance from any source outside of the University of Virginia School of Law must advise the Financial Aid Office of the amounts and types of assistance received. Your financial aid award must be adjusted to reflect any outside scholarship assistance. You may notify us of any outside aid via SIS, or you can send an e-mail to lawfinaid@virginia.edu.
