Alumni Volunteers Lauded During Annual Volunteers Weekend

Alumni Volunteers Weekend took place at the Law School on October 12 and 13.

Sadler Poe ’70, National Appeals Chair, thanked the annual giving volunteers in attendance, and reported on the results of last year’s campaign, as well as goals and strategies for the current campaign.

The 2006-2007 annual giving campaign finished with gifts totaling $9,841,990, setting a new record. Total giving was $13,860,000, with unrestricted gifts totaling $4,500,000—another new record. Alumni participation exceeded 50% for the second year in a row.

Poe praised the top class in each of the three size categories. The Class of 1957 reached a participation rate of 95%, while the Class of 1967 reached 59%, and the Class of 2002 achieved 95%.

Also recognized were the highest participation rates in several regions, specifically Charleston (71%), Birmingham (76%) and Chicago (63%). Finally, Poe relayed to the group that 75 firms and companies had achieved 100% participation in at least one of their offices.
