McGough is partner and the former head of the Litigation Department at Reed Smith, LLP. After earning his bachelor's degree at Princeton, McGough studied law at the University of Virginia, where he was notes editor for the Virginia Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif. After graduating he clerked for the Hon. Collins J. Seitz of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit (1978-79) and the Hon. William H. Rehnquist of the Supreme Court of the United States (1979-80). He has served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Western District of Pennsylvania (1980-82) and associate counsel for the Senate Select Committee on Secret Military Assistance to Iran and the Nicaraguan Opposition (1987). | |
