Nathan J.D. Veldhuis

Nathan Veldhuis co-teaches the Mental Health Law Clinic. He has litigation experience in fields as diverse as professional malpractice, personal injury, defamation, medical malpractice and mental health law. He is currently an attorney with Rohrstaff Law Firm in Alexandria, Va.

Veldhuis is committed to serving his profession through participation in many bar organizations. He is a former member of the Board of Governors of the Young Lawyers Conference of the Virginia State Bar and is a member of the Board of Governors of the Virginia State Bar's Litigation Section. He is active in the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association as past chair of the Young Lawyers Section, co-chair of the Amicus Curiae Committee and a current member of the Board of Governors. He serves as a board member on a number of the association's committees including the Continuing Legal Education Committee, the Ethics and Professionalism Committee, the Pro Bono Committee, the Public Affairs Committee and the Publications Committee. He is
on the Virginia State Bar’s Litigation Section Board of Governors.

He is currently chair of the Virginia College of Trial Advocacy, which is associated with the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. He is also a pro bono partner of the Legal Aid Justice Center. He is on the Virginia State Bar’s Litigation Section Board of Governors and is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Brain Injury Association of Virginia. He recently was elected to serve on the Virginia Bar Association's Boyd-Graves Conference, an invitation-only group that makes recommendations for changes to the Code of Virginia.
