| Scot H. Fishman Lecturer Scot Fishman serves as Dewey & LeBoeuf's director of pro bono. In his role, Fishman directs the firm's global pro bono legal efforts. He was first tapped for the role in July 2006, and in just the first year, the firm experienced the largest jump in pro bono activity among the top 200 American Lawyer law firms based in New York City. As a lecturer at the Law School, Fishman teaches a seminar about pro bono at private law firms. Prior to directing the firm's pro bono efforts, Fishman was a litigation lawyer in the areas of complex energy litigation, insurance class actions, electronic data preservation and numerous other areas. His pro bono work has included entertainment contract negotiation, low-income housing improvement for parents with asthmatic children and general litigation. Prior to law school, Fishman devoted much of his efforts to public interest and governmental work. He served as a Teach For America corps member and taught for three years in an under-resourced elementary school in Washington, D.C. While at the University of Virginia, Fishman served as the president of the student body and served on the board of Madison House, the office of volunteerism at the university. He has also interned for the White House and in both houses of Congress. | |
