He is also writing on problems involving property rights, ethical particularism, and anarchism. Simmons received the All-University Teaching Award for 1992-93 from the University of Virginia. He has been an associate editor for Philosophy & Public Affairs since 1982 and has been on the advisory board for Social Theory and Practice since 1987.
