    A. John Simmons' research interests include political philosophy, ethics, history of moral and political theory, and philosophy of law. He is also writing on problems involving property rights, ethical particularism, and anarchism.

    Simmons received the All-University Teaching Award for 1992-93 from the University of Virginia. He has been an associate editor for Philosophy & Public Affairs since 1982 and has been on the advisory board for Social Theory and Practice since 1987. He also served as the nominating editor for The Philosopher's Annual (1982-83).
