      Ariel Porat is the Dean of Tel Aviv University Faculty of Law, where he received his LL.B., magna cum laude, and J.S.D. He will teach Remedies at the Law School in fall 2004.

      Porat has been a Visiting Scholar at Yale Law School (1989-90), a Visiting Professor at the University of California at Berkeley (1998-99), and in 2003 at the University of Chicago. From 1997-2002, he was Director of the Cegla Center for Interdisciplinary Research of the Law. He is the founder of the journal Theoretical Inquiries in Law and was its editor-in-chief during 1999-2003. Porat's scholarship includes Contributory Fault in the Law of Contracts (1997); Tort Liability under Uncertainty, with co-author Alex Stein (Oxford University Press 2001); and many articles in torts and contracts, most recently, "Does Risk to Oneself Increase the Care Owed to Others? Law and Economics in Conflict," co-authored with Robert Cooter; "Should Courts Deduct Non-Legal Sanctions from Damages?"; and "Anti-Insurance."
