Course Description:

Verbal presentations are central to good lawyering, even if you never intend to set foot in a courtroom. The person who can articulate his or her ideas aloud effectively is the one who is the most likely to impress a client, persuade a judge, connect with a colleague -- even land the job in the first place. This course is designed to help students improve their ability to communicate persuasively in the wide variety of settings in which lawyers are called upon to speak. Each class will consist of two components: faculty lecture, followed by a workshop session in which students will be able to practice what they have learned by making oral presentations and receiving detailed feedback. The goal of the course is to provide all students -- including those who do not consider themselves naturally gifted public speakers -- the tools to become more capable and confident oral communicators.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT: Enrolled students who do not attend the first class session will be dropped. Students seeking to enroll in this course must attend the first class session.
