NOTE: Students earn two credit hours in this yearlong lecture (one course load credit assigned to each semester). A final grade and all credits will be awarded at the end of the academic year.
This yearlong workshop will meet every other week on average. In each meeting, conducted over lunch, a leading scholar will present a current legal research paper using the methodology of law and economics. There will be no final exam. Instead, students are asked to submit ten short reactions papers to the papers presented (allowing student to take four “passes” at their convenience). The workshop is also attended by UVa faculty interested in the topic. The workshop provides a unique opportunity for students to engage with peers, faculty and outside speakers, exchange ideas and witness, participate in and contribute to legal scholarship.
COURSE REQUIREMENT: Ten short reactions papers
