Course Description:

Seminars in Ethical Values are designed to enhance students' understanding of ethical issues and address the broader ethical and moral responsibilities of the lawyer as citizen and leader. The seminars are graded on a pass/fail basis; students earn one credit in the spring semester upon successful completion of the seminar.

This seminar will focus on the ethics of organizational culture. We'll read some introductory materials on theories of organization culture, and then explore how ethical choices are shaped by various organizational cultures. We'll take a very broad approach to what "organizational cultures" can be, ranging from business cultures to family structures to organized crime. Our texts will include both fiction and nonfiction.

NOTE: Sessions will be at our house, on Sunday nights (dinner will be served). We'll be meeting Sept. 23, Oct. 21, Nov. 11, Feb. 10, and Apr. 14.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT: Attendance at all class sessions is required.
