Course Description:
This course will trace the history of American constitutional law development from 1776 to 1896. Topics to be covered include the framing and ratification of the Constitution, the Alien and Sedition Acts, the landmark decisions of the Marshall Court, the constitutional ramifications of slavery and emancipation, and the impact of economic change on constitutional politics and constitutional law.
