Course Description:
Seminars in Ethical Values are designed to enhance students' understanding of ethical issues and address the broader ethical and moral responsibilities of the lawyer as citizen and leader. The seminars are graded on a pass/fail basis; students earn one credit in the spring semester upon successful completion of the seminar.
Professors Jeffries and Ryan will offer a section of Ethical Values focused on American fiction. All sessions will be held on Sunday evenings, and attendance is mandatory.
The fall schedule of meeting and assignments is as follows:
Sunday, September 16 -- William Kennedy, Ironweed
Sunday, October 14 -- Alice Walker, The Color Purple
Sunday, November 11 -- Jennifer Egan, A Visit From the Goon Squad
Additionally, the seminar will meet on two Sunday evenings in the spring, for which the assignments will be William Faulkner, As I Lay Dying, and James Agee, A Death in the Family.
ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT: Attendance at all sessions is mandatory
