Course Description:

This January Term course meets January 14-18.

This short course will examine salient features of the legal and economic framework in which we provide medical care in the United States. How does that heavily-regulated market work? Does it deliver high-quality care effectively, ethically, and economically? Can it? How is that market regulated, and by whom? What are the prospects for improvement? These broad questions will be explored from the unique vantage point of a Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of a 20-hospital, not-for-profit health system with $9 billion in annual revenues.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT: Attendance at all class sessions is required. Enrolled students who do not attend the first class session will be dropped. Students seeking to enroll in this short course must attend the first class session.
