Course Description:
NOTE:
This short course meets on the following seven Fridays: January 25; February 1, 8, 22; March 1; April 5 and 19.
In this course we will explore the issues of team management and leadership applied in various settings. Students will learn about how failures in leadership evolve and how to prevent them; how to manage crises effectively; and how to build an organization that is less susceptible to significant preventable failures. We will study team management including: managing virtual teams (increasingly necessary because of geographic or other constraints); and how to account for and manage divergent opinions within a team or corporate organization. Grades will be based on class participation (40%) and a 7-10 page paper (60%).
ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT: Attendance at all class sessions is required. Enrolled students who do not attend the first class session will be dropped. Students seeking to enroll in this short course must attend the first class session.
COURSE REQUIREMENT: 7-10 page paper and class participation
