Course Description:

Bioethics and the Law will address some of the most divisive, sharply debated, and rapidly evolving issues in society today. The course, which explores the intersection among medicine, technology, and the law, will address issues such as (1) applicable bioethical principles and approaches, (2) human reproduction and birth (including abortion, assisted reproductive technologies, fetal-maternal decision making, and actions for wrongful birth, wrongful life, and wrongful conception), (3) death and dying (including the forgoing of life-sustaining medical treatment, futile treatment, and physician-assisted dying), (4) organ transplantation, (5) research involving human subjects, (6) public health, and (7) human genetics.

COURSE REQUIREMENT: Examination
