Ingo Saenger is a professor for civil law, law of civil procedure and corporate law at the University of Münster in Germany.

Saenger studied law and history as a minor subject and passed his first state exam in law in Marburg (1986). He received his Ph.D. at the Philipps University of Marburg (1990) and passed the second state exam in law in Frankfurt (1993). He finished his habilitation at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena (1996). Saenger worked as an academic assistant at the law schools of the University of Marburg (1987–90) and, after his legal clerkship (1990–93), the University of Jena (1993–96) before he took his current position in Münster in 1997. He served as judge at the State Appeal Court for Civil Matters for several years and is of counsel to a transactional law firm by now.

He is also co-director of the Centre for European Private Law, manager of the Research Center for the Law of the Legal Profession and adviser of the Post-graduate Program on Mergers & Acquisitions.

Saenger’s research interests include European company law, consumer law, international sales law and law of civil procedure. He will co-teach European Union Law in fall 2011.
