Professor of Law and Former Dean of Law, University of Auckland, New Zealand
Paul Rishworth is a professor of law and former dean of law at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. He practiced law from 1977 to 1986, then joined the Auckland Law School in 1987. He specializes in constitutional law and human rights, and has written widely on human rights law, including as a co-author (with Huscroft, Optican and Mahoney) of The New Zealand Bill of Rights (Oxford, Melbourne, 2003).
Rishworth has provided constitutional and human rights advice to Pacific states as well as to New Zealand institutions, and serves as the attorney-general for the Pitcairn Islands.
His current research is in comparative constitutional human rights law and he will teach a course at the Law School in fall 2011 on that subject.
