| Anthony J. Bellia, Jr. Lilly Endowment Associate Professor of Law, Notre Dame Law School J.D., Notre Dame Law School, 1994 B.A., Canisius College, 1991 Anthony J. Bellia Jr., Lilly Endowment Associate Professor of Law at the Notre Dame Law School, teaches and researches in the areas of civil procedure, contracts, federal courts, and federalism. He will teach Federal Courts and a Federalism seminar at the Law School during the spring 2007 semester. Prior to joining the Notre Dame faculty in 2000, Bellia practiced law as an associate with Miller, Cassidy, Larroca & Lewin in Washington, D.C., litigating First Amendment, death penalty, contract, and employment cases in state and federal courts. He also clerked for Justice Antonin Scalia of the Supreme Court of the United States, Judge Diarmuid F. O’Scannlain of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and Judge William M. Skretny of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York. Bellia earned his J.D. summa cum laude in 1994 from the Notre Dame Law School, where he received the Dean Joseph O’Meara Award for outstanding academic achievement. While a student at the Notre Dame Law School, Bellia also received the prestigious Judge Roger T. Kiley Fellowship and served as editor-in-chief of the Notre Dame Law Review. Bellia earned his B.A. summa cum laude from Canisius College in 1991, where he was named the outstanding graduate in economics and political science as well as a Harry S. Truman Scholar. In 2003, the graduating class of the Notre Dame Law School named Bellia the Professor of the Year. | |
