Gillian Triggs, recently named president of the Australian Human Rights Commission, will teach the spring short course International Law: Trade and Human Rights. Triggs served as dean of the Sydney Law School (University of Sydney) from 2007-2012 and was a chair of the Council of Australian Law Deans. She served as the director of the British Institute of International and Comparative Law from July 2005 to September 2007. Triggs has combined an academic career with international commercial legal practice and work with governments and international organizations. She has published on the topics of WTO disputes resolution, energy and resources law, law of the sea, territorial sovereignty, jurisdiction and immunity, international criminal law, international environmental law and human rights.
