Elizabeth Leverage Hilles received her B.S. from Duke University in 1989 and her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1992. After graduation from the Law School, she became a litigator at McGuire Woods in McLean, Va., and then practiced wealth management and estate planning at Covington & Burling and Ivins, Phillips & Barker in Washington, D.C. Leverage Hilles left private practice in 2004 to join the University of Virginia’s Office of Gift Planning and in 2006 joined the Law School Foundation. Since 2006, she has also lectured in trusts and estates, estate planning, elder law, and non-profit law at the Law School.
