Allen E. Hench

Allen E. Hench is the owner and principal of Allen E. Hench Law Office in Newport, Penn. The firm focuses on real estate law, elder law, estate planning and administration, and other general law issues. He has been an active practitioner for more than 36 years.

In addition to teaching the Nonprofit Clinic, Hench is a former researcher at the University of Virginia Miller Center, for the Public Affairs Program “For the Record” for PBS affiliate WHTJ. He currently leads a course for OLLI at UVA (Osher Lifelong Learning Instititue)for which he serves on the Program Committeetitled Provocative World-Class Ideas about the State of Humanity Today and Tomorrow, based on the TEDtalks lecture series.

Hench currently sits on the Perry County Community Foundation, and was a prior member of the board of directors of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, in Harrisburg, Penn., which administers approximately $50 million in assets for civic and charitable entities and endeavors. He also has served as a member of the House of Delegates of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. Hench has taught courses at the American Institute of Banking, including Law and Banking, and other courses in Real Estate Law and Criminal Law.

Hench is a licensed title insurance agent. He was also vice chairman of the board of directors of First National Bank of Newport and chairman of the bank’s Audit Committee and Committee on Compliance and Policy.

In addition to being a director of the local United Nations Association Chapter, Hench serves on the board of directors of Ash Lawn Opera, is treasurer of the board of the Mediation Center of Charlottesville, is a "big brother" in the local Big Brother Big Sister organization, and is a volunteer announcer for WTJU for classical music programs.
