Richard Trodden was the Commonwealth's Attorney for Arlington County, Virginia, for 19 years; before that he served as deputy commonwealth's attorney and assistant commonwealth's attorney. A graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, Trodden also served as president of the Virginia Association of Commonwealth's Attorneys and as the governor' appointee to the Virginia State Crime Commission. During his years of practice, Trodden prosecuted a number of murder cases and other serious crimes. He was awarded the Robert F. Horan Award for outstanding service to the citizens and prosecutors of Virginia. Trodden also served as chair of the Criminal Law Section of the Virginia State Bar.
