    Susan Palmer is associate dean for admissions at the University of Virginia School of Law. She earned her undergraduate degree from Mary Baldwin College, and her law degree, summa cum laude, from Washington and Lee University School of Law in 1985. While at Washington and Lee, she served as editor-in-chief of the Washington and Lee Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif and Omicron Delta Kappa. After graduation, Palmer clerked for the Hon. Ellsworth A. Van Graafeiland, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, in New York. Following her clerkship, Palmer returned to Washington and Lee as assistant dean, then as associate dean for student affairs and admissions and adjunct professor of law. She joined the Virginia Law faculty in 2002.

    Palmer has served in numerous roles with the Law School Admissions Council, including two terms on the Finance and Legal Affairs Committee and two terms on the Services and Programs Committee; has twice chaired LSAC’s Workshop for New Admissions Personnel; and is a frequent presenter at professional development meetings and law forums. She is also past chair of the Association of American Law Schools Section on Prelegal Education and Admission to Law School and is a member of the American Bar Association’s Prelaw Committee.
