2000
Scott E. Adams has been elected to the prestigious American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, a nonprofit association of lawyers who have made substantial contributions to the field of trusts and estates law through writing, teaching, and bar leadership activities. Adams is a partner with Bradley Arant Boult Cummings in Birmingham, Ala., where he is a member of the trusts and estates and tax practice groups. He focuses his practice on advising clients on estate planning strategies, including drafting wills and trusts designed to bring significant tax savings. He was named in Best Lawyers 2012s.
Tracey C. Allen was recently promoted to special counsel with Wilmer Hale in Washington, D.C. She practices in the litigation/controversy department and is a member of the intellectual property litigation practice group. She has represented clients in patent infringement cases involving an array of technologies, including pharmaceuticals, genetic screening, and flash memory.
Brian Murray has been made partner with Latham & Watkins in Washington, D.C.
He is a communications lawyer whose practice focuses on the regulatory treatment of voice-over-Internet protocol services and broadband-based services. In addition to assisting clients with matters relating to emerging technologies, Murray has significant experience with more traditional telecommunications and media issues, including inter-carrier compensation, universal service, and the regulation of cable companies.
Tamer A. Soliman has been promoted to partner with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, where he is a member of the international trade practice in the firm’s Washington, D.C., and Abu Dhabi offices. He advises corporate and government clients on a wide range of international trade and trade policy issues, including defense trade/export controls, anticorruption laws, economic sanctions, and customs/security-related issues.
Andy Wright continues to serve as associate counsel to the President in the Office of the White House Counsel. He and his wife, Caprice Roberts, are having a ball with their infant son, Garrett Robert Wright.
Jacqueline Yount Ferrell has joined K&L Gates as counsel in Charlotte, N.C., where she practices in the labor and employment group.
Jason Zuckerman joined the U.S. Office of Special Counsel as senior legal advisor to the special counsel.He was previously a principal at The Employment Law Group, where he litigated whistleblower retaliation and False Claims Act qui tam actions. He has been included twice in Washingtonian magazine’s list of top whistleblower lawyers and in Best Lawyers in the area of employment law, and has written and lectured extensively on legal protections for whistleblowers.He lives in Maryland with his wife and two daughters.
2001
Matthew Bosher and Tess Autrey Bosher welcomed their third daughter, Mary Louise, on February 22, 2011. Matthew and Tess live in Richmond, Va., where Matthew is a partner at Hunton & Williams.
L. Dwight Floyd has been appointed to the board of directors of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, where he will serve a one-year term. He also serves on the board of trustees of the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics. Floyd is a partner with Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein in Columbia, where he concentrates his practice on commercial litigation with emphasis on science and technology issues.
Anthony D. Greene married Heidi Brink-Herling in Asheville, N.C., on October 1. He is an associate with Troutman Sanders in Atlanta, Ga., where he focuses his practice on real estate and other commercial transactions.
Gunes Hopson and her husband, Kevin, are pleased to announce the birth of their second son, Skyler Blue. Skyler was born in October. Their first son, Aydin Kendell, was born in August of 2010, and is Skyler’s guardian angel, looking down on him from heaven. Hopson continues to work for Capital One in Richmond, Va., as director, assistant general counsel in the legal department. In addition, she has her own part-time photography business, called “fotogenic” (www.fotogenicrichmond.com).

Devin C. Dolive has been named partner with Burr Forman in Birmingham, Ala., where he practices in the commercial litigation group. He litigates commercial matters ranging from contract disputes and business torts, to pricing and antitrust matters, and also represents employers, focusing on labor and employment litigation and advice, collective bargaining matters, employee benefits litigation, and ERISA litigation.
Tarah Grant has been promoted to counsel in the intellectual property, media, and technology group of Hogan Lovells. She also was recently named to the Virginia Business legal elite. Tarah and her husband, John Delacourt, welcomed their second child, Gabrielle Marie, in September. Gabrielle joins two-year-old sister, Victoria Genevieve. The family resides in Dunn Loring.
Kelly Howard has been elected partner in the corporate group with Crowell & Moring in Washington, D.C. She focuses her practice on securities transactions, securities reporting, and compliance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and general corporate counseling.
Afi Johnson-Parris was listed as a rising star in North Carolina Super Lawyers 2012 in family law and collaborative law. She is a divorce and family law attorney in Greensboro in her own practice, Johnson-Parris Law.
Jonathan E. Moore has been named partner with Warner Norcross & Judd in Grand Rapids, Mich. He focuses his practice in litigation with an emphasis on commercial litigation, complex litigation, and electronic discovery.
Nicole M. Murray has been elected partner with Quarles & Brady in Chicago, Ill. She is a member of the intellectual property group and focuses her practice on intellectual property litigation. She counsels clients on intellectual property issues, including infringement, licensing, and branding, and on marketing and advertising issues, and assists clients in the acquisition and protection of their intellectual property around the world.
Bill Sinclair recently joined Silverman, Thompson, Slutkin & White in Baltimore, Md., where his practice focuses exclusively on litigation. He also has been selected to the leadership academy of the Maryland State Bar Association, where he is on the nominating committee. He continues as an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland Carey School of Law. Kate has just begun a part-time litigation practice doing legal research and writing for various attorneys throughout Baltimore, and she continues to care for their son, Teddy, while maintaining an active volunteer schedule.
Bryan F. Stroh is vice president and general counsel of the Pittsburgh Pirates, one of Major League Baseball’s oldest franchises. Previously with Katten Muchin Rosenmann, Stroh worked with the Cleveland Indians and the White Sox on player salary arbitration cases.

Justin Chiarodo is a partner at Dickstein Shapiro in Washington, D.C., where he practices in the government contracts group. He represents government contractors and health care companies in all aspects of federal, state, and local procurement matters, with a focus on the False Claims Act and other government contracts litigation, investigations, and compliance matters.
J. Dalton Courson has been made a member of Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann in New Orleans, La. He is in the litigation section, where he has a litigation and trial practice with a focus on insurance coverage, creditors’ rights and bankruptcy, and commercial litigation.
Kelley Edwards has been promoted to shareholder with Littler Mendelson in Houston, Tex. She represents management in charges and litigation matters related to employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage and hour disputes. She also advises employers on a variety of labor and employment matters, including employment and severance agreements, reductions in force, Fair Labor Standards Act compliance, and unfair competition issues.
Justin J. Hasford has been elected to partnership with Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner in Washington, D.C. He focuses his practice on complex patent litigation at the trial and appellate levels on behalf of pioneer pharmaceutical companies, and has particular experience with cases arising from abbreviated new drug applications under the Hatch-Waxman Act.

Eric Volkman has been made partner with Latham & Watkins in Washington, D.C.
He practices primarily in the areas of white-collar criminal defense and complex civil litigation. He has worked on a wide variety of matters in federal and state court, where he has represented foreign countries, municipalities, companies, elected officials, and other individuals in civil litigation and government investigations. He also has notable experience in export control matters and data privacy compliance in the context of international investigations.
David Zetoony has been elected partner with Bryan Cave in Washington, D.C. He practices mainly with the antitrust, franchise & consumer law client service group, and leads the firm’s data privacy and data security practice.

Michael Autuoro has been named principal in the IP litigation group with Fish & Richardson in New York City. He focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation as well as intellectual property strategy counseling in a variety of technologies, including computer hardware and software, semiconductor methods and devices, vehicle systems, business methods, telematics, gaming, and financial services.
Courtney Caprio is an associate with Stroock in Miami, Fla., where she focuses her practice on commercial litigation, particularly in entertainment, intellectual property, contract disputes, class actions, and torts. In 2011 she was recognized by The Daily Business Review as South Florida’s Most Effective Lawyer in the area of complex business civil litigation. She was previously with Kasowitz Benson Torres & Friedman.
Kathleen Carignan was a featured panelist at the University of Miami School of Law Entertainment & Sports Law Society annual symposium in April. The event, co-hosted by the Miami Marlins, was held in the new Marlins Park. Kathleen provides legal assistance and professional education for artists and works with communities to create cooperatives and residencies to attract creatives to revitalize unused industrial or city spaces.
Heather L. Carlton is Assistant U.S. Attorney in the homicide section of the superior court division, United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. She joined the office in 2008 and has served in the appellate division and the misdemeanor, felony trial, and felony major crimes sections of the superior court division.
John Domby has been named a rising star in North Carolina Super Lawyers 2012. He is an associate with Winstead in Charlotte, in the real estate finance practice group, where he represents lenders in finance transactions, including real estate loan originations, mezzanine financing, loan workouts, restructurings, whole loan sales, and related matters.
Claudia Gee Vassar and her husband, David, are pleased to announce the births of Sylvia Mar Vassar and Rafael Gee Vassar, born September 6.
Dara (Zelnick) Kesselheim and her husband, Jared Kesselheim, welcomed their second son, Eli George Kesselheim, on July 13. Eli is doing great and he adores his big brother Zachary (now 2½). Dara was recently named partner in the government enforcement & compliance and major commercial litigation practice groups with Choate, Hall & Stewart in Boston, Mass. She focuses her practice on representation of individuals and corporations in both government and internal investigations involving health care fraud, securities fraud, and government contracting, as well as matters that involve complex civil litigation.
Thomas H. Kim has been elected partner in the litigation department of Jenner & Block in Washington, D.C., where he focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation in the hospitality and energy industries.
Gordon F. Rainey has recently put his legal skills to use in the commercial intelligence field, taking on a position at Hakluyt, a London-based strategic intelligence and advisory firm.
A-J Secrist has been elected partner with Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein in Charlotte, N.C., where she represents public and private entities in securities, merger and acquisition, and general corporate matters. Her practice also involves giving general corporate and securities advice to private investment companies. Secrist advises senior management and boards of directors of multi-national companies regarding enterprise risk management, including the design and implementation of universal compliance and whistleblower programs.
Billy Wynne and his wife, Christy, are grateful to announce that Harrison Lei Jun Wynne joined their family on February 7 in Zhengzhou, China. Lei is 18 months old and has quickly enriched the Wynne household with his love and good cheer. Billy and family are in Denver, Colo., where Billy is senior vice president and principal with Health Policy Source, a federal health care consulting firm focused on policy and advocacy.

Scott P. Horton has been named partner with Jaeckle Fleischmann & Mugel in Buffalo, N.Y., where he is a member of the labor and employment and E-discovery and records management practice groups. He was named to the Business First of Buffalo “Who’s Who in Law” list in 2011.
Toni J. Hoverkamp has joined Farrell Fritz as an associate in the real estate, land use, and municipal departments. Hoverkamp works out of both Hauppauge and Bridgehampton, N.Y. She focuses her practice on representing buyers and sellers in residential and commercial real estate transactions, institutional lenders in providing financing to borrowers, and private developers in obtaining financing for development projects. She also works with private developers and investors in joint venture negotiations and with landlords and tenants in leasing transactions. She was previously with Herrick, Feinstein.
Joshua C. Johnson has been named partner with Gentry Locke Rakes & Moore in Roanoke, Va. He focuses his practice on construction litigation, criminal defense, and government regulatory matters, representing individuals and corporations in a wide variety of complex civil matters as well as in government investigations in federal and state courts.
Brent Olson has been promoted to senior counsel with Dow Lohnes in Washington, D.C. He represents clients in civil litigation matters before federal and state courts at both the trial and appellate level and also in arbitration proceedings.
Brooke Purcell was honored at the Sanctuary for Families 2011 Above & Beyond Pro Bono Achievement Awards and benefit in New York City in November for her work on behalf of a traumatized victim of domestic violence and her two young daughters. Sanctuary for Families is a nonprofit agency dedicated to serving victims of domestic violence and sex trafficking and their children.
Rhodes B. Ritenour has been promoted to partner at LeClairRyan in Richmond, Va. His practice focuses on litigating intellectual property matters, representing interests in the hospitality industry, and appearing before state agencies and elected bodies. Rhodes chairs the LeClairRyan hospitality and tourism industry team.
Rhodes is chairman of the American Diabetes Association Board for Central Virginia, a co-founder of the Diabetes Support Group for Greater Richmond, and a trustee of the Virginia Museum of Frontier Culture and the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation. He is a member of the John Marshall American Inn of Court, the Thomas Jefferson Intellectual Property American Inn of Court, and a member of the Lawyer Referral Committee of the Virginia State Bar. He is also the outgoing chairman of the staff parish relations committee at River Road United Methodist Church, where he has served on the church council.
Rhodes married Alana N. Malick in Hot Springs, Va. on November 1, 2008. She practices corporate law with McCandlish Holton. They met at the Law School during the bar review course, and Rhodes proposed at the Law School in the fall of 2007.
2006
Sean Cameron and his wife, Rita, welcomed their second child, Beatrice Christine, to the family last October. Sean is in-house counsel in the Internet services and marketing communications department at Apple. The family, including Callum (3), recently moved to Willow Glen, Calif.
John H. Doyle, his wife, Joan, and their four children, Aaron, Mikayla, Colleen, and Juliet, moved to Maine in the summer of 2011.
Eben C. Hansel has been elected to the board of directors of Live Baltimore, a nonprofit organization that markets the City of Baltimore as a great place to live. He is an associate with Ballard Spahr, where his practice is focused mainly on commercial real estate law and transactions.
John Sherman and his wife, Hobby, welcomed a baby girl, Lucy Stoddard Sherman, into the family on January 21. “Hobby and Lucy are healthy and are doing great,” writes John. “We couldn’t be more excited.”
2007
Alexandra Marzelli joined Patton Boggs in Washington, D.C. Marzelli advises pharmaceutical, medical device, dietary supplement and food clients on the full range of regulatory and compliance matters involving the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Albert B. Stieglitz, Jr., and his wife, Amanda, announce the birth of their daughter, Caroline Kingston Stieglitz, on October 29. Stieglitz is a trial attorney in the fraud section of the criminal division of the U.S. Department of Justice. The family lives in Arlington, Va.
Robert Weissert was selected as a “Must-Know Floridian” by Florida Trend magazine, and was featured in the March 2011 issue. He is the vice president for research and general counsel for Florida TaxWatch, a nonpartisan, nonprofit public policy research institute based in Tallahassee.
The Florida Trend article describes an effort that Weissert led to find savings within the Florida state budget. According to Florida Trend, the volunteer members of the group looking for the savings included “a who’s who of state business leaders, plus the two party nominees for governor, Democrat and then-state CFO Alex Sink and Republican Rick Scott” (now Florida’s 45th governor), as well as other prominent elected officials and community leaders. The effort yielded more than 125 cost-savings recommendations worth approximately $4 billion, more than one-third of which were implemented by the Florida legislature.
2008
James R. Billings-Kang has joined Blank Rome as an associate in the corporate litigation group in Washington, D.C., where he focuses his practice on complex civil litigation at both state and federal levels. As a member of the consumer financial services team he works on a variety of consumer finance litigation matters.
2009
Karin Agness was named among Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in the area of law and policy. She founded a group for conservative college women called Network of Enlightened Women while at UVA.
Jacqueline Choi came in tenth among female runners in the 2011 USA Track and Field 24-Hour National Championships held in Cleveland, Ohio, in September, running 101.90 miles in a 24-hour period. Choi is an attorney with the Bergen County Mental Health Project and resides in Leonia, N.J.
Elisabeth Falaleev Miranowski writes that her daughter, Sasha Helene Miranowski, was born on October 29, in the middle of the snowstorm that hit the East Coast.
Paul Mysliwiec enjoys prosecuting misdemeanors in Brooklyn’s Red Zone, consisting of tough neighborhoods such as East New York and Canarsie. He especially enjoys facing off against fellow UVA grads such as Adam Heyman ’03 and Jessica Goldthwaite ’04 in the Legal Aid Society, and looks forward to his time in the felony grand jury.
Jonathan S. Tannen was a foreign law research assistant to Asher Grunis LL.M. ’72 in Jerusalem in the summer of 2007. Grunis was recently named Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Israel. His father, Edward Tannen ’73, shared at least one class with Grunis at the Law School – Charlie Whitebread’s criminal procedure class. Edward visited Jonathan and Grunis the summer Jonathan was working for the Supreme Court of Israel. Jonathan is currently a law clerk to Justice Peggy A. Quince of the Florida Supreme Court.
Rebecca Vallas has been named among Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in the area of law and policy. She advocates for low-income, elderly, and disabled clients and lobbies state and federal agencies. She is a staff attorney with Community Legal Services in Philadelphia, Pa.

Michael Menssen announces that his second child, Daniel James Menssen, was born on July 31.
Natalia Oehninger is an associate with Jones Day in Dallas, Tex., where she practices labor and employment law.
Whitney B. Price has joined Butler Rubin Saltarelli & Boyd in Chicago, Ill., as an associate. She concentrates her practice in complex commercial litigation.
Erin N. Thompson has joined Goldberg Kohn as an associate in the commercial finance group in Chicago, Ill. She represents financial institutions in documenting, negotiating, and performing due diligence for asset-based and cash-flow commercial finance transactions.

Austin A. Averitt has joined Burr & Forman in Birmingham, Ala. He practices in the commercial litigation group, where he focuses on financial services litigation.
Alex Cox was named among Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in the area of law and policy. He clerks in the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals and organized the Federalist Society’s 2011 National Student Symposium with Justice Clarence Thomas as the keynote speaker.
Joe L. Fore, Jr., has joined Baker Hostetler in Orlando, Fla., where he focuses his practice on complex business litigation.
Megan A. Peloquin has joined Weil, Gotshal and Manges in Washington, D.C., as a litigation associate.
