Finding Your Way Around

The Law School is located on the North Grounds of the University of Virginia, about a mile from Central Grounds. (Map of the Law School Grounds)

Central Grounds begins at the corner of Route 29 (Emmet Street) and Ivy Road/University Avenue. To get to that intersection from the Law School, go down Arlington Boulevard and turn right on Emmet Street (Route 29). Alternatively, you can follow Massie Road past Darden to Copeley Road, turn right on Copeley and then left on Ivy Road.

The Rotunda, the heart of the University, is two blocks east of the above intersection on University Avenue. Alderman and Clemons libraries are across McCormick Street.

To reach UVA Medical Center from Route 29/Emmet Street, go east on University Avenue past the Rotunda and under the railroad bridge, and turn right on Jefferson Park Avenue. Or continue on Emmet Street past Ivy Road, veer left with the road as it forks and turns into Jefferson Park Avenue, then make a right into the hospital.

Just one block east of the Rotunda, the Corner is the restaurant and shopping strip along University Avenue that serves Central Grounds. Elliewood Avenue is a side street at the west end of the Corner.
