Course Description

This course will consider artificial intelligence and machine learning from the perspective of both law and computer science. Students will develop a basic understanding of the computer science underlying artificial intelligence and machine learning, the ways in which the law is adapting (or failing to adapt) to artificial intelligence and machine learning, and the ways in which these technologies may be used by lawyers and the legal system. Law students will work in multifunctional teams with Computer Science students to address problems that overlap computer science and law. Students need no background in computer science or coding.

Written Work Product

For the first part of the class, there will a combination of homework projects, short writing assignments and a Flex mid-term administered by SRO. For the second part of the class, there will be a number of short writing assignments and group project presentations.
