Course Description

A problem for every legal system is how to deal with situations in which numerous parties possess the same claim. In response, the United States has developed class action litigation on a scale unknown to any other nation. This short course will address the basic requirements for a class action, its use in cases involving civil rights, consumer fraud, and securities fraud, and the problems that have led to its becoming the most controversial of current litigation techniques.
