Course Description

The objective of this course is for students to gain competency in two skills areas: 1) important, widely used techniques of statutory and regulatory interpretation, and, 2) selected administrative law doctrines that are potentially important tools for courts in helping to control the exercise of federal agency regulatory discretion. The course may be taken before, after or concurrently with administrative law and legislation courses.

Final Type (if any): Flex with Paper Option

Description: Flex exam at end of semester (or paper option). For students taking the paper option, the paper is due via EXPO by noon on May 8, 2025.

Written Work Product

Students will have the option of taking a Flex exam or submitting a paper (due by noon on last day of exam period via EXPO). 2L, 3L or LLM students intending to use the final paper for their Upper-Level Writing Requirement must submit a "Special Request" form to SRO by Feb. 25, 2025. The form and submission instructions are available on LawWeb.
