Course Description

This class will explore the idea of "reparations," examining the place of the concept in law and history and testing its theoretical justifications and empirical evidence of its effects. We will explore reparations through a series of case studies in both domestic and international contexts, and we will investigate the relationships among race, colonial identity, and other factors grounding claims for reparations.

Written Work Product

Students will be required to submit a substantial research paper via EXPO due by noon on December 18, 2024. Students do not need to submit a "special permission" form to SRO for the paper to be eligible for the upper-level writing requirement.
