Course Description

This ethical values seminar for a mixed class of law and medical students—led by professors from Law and Medicine—addresses “Succession and Inheritance.” Law and medicine alike enjoy long histories and storied traditions, yet each successive generation of practitioners must tangle with new challenges and choices. So how do we manage generational succession, including transfers of power and inevitable tensions between tradition’s stability and the allure and risks of new possibilities? Readings from William Shakespeare, Virginia Woolf, and others will spark our exploration of succession and inheritance in professional and personal life.
