Course Description

This short course will examine the legal and economic framework in which we provide medical care in the United States. How does that heavily-regulated market work? Does it deliver high-quality care effectively, ethically, and economically? Can it? How is that market regulated, and by whom? What are the prospects for improvement? These broad questions will be explored from the unique vantage point of an Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer at a 22-hospital not-for-profit health system with an integrated health plan and more than $12 billion in annual revenues.
