Course Description

This colloquium provides an opportunity for S.J.D. candidates to present their work in progress, comment on each other’s work, and receive comments from the instructor. As such, it is meant to complement each candidate’s ongoing dialogue with his or her individual faculty supervisor. Apart from presentations, some sessions may be devoted to discussing dissertation planning and writing, as well as theoretical and methodological issues. S.J.D. candidates in residence are expected to register absent exceptional circumstances.

Written Work Product: Dissertation drafting, and opportunity to workshop dissertation work. Students may be required to submit response papers to readings assigned for class

Course Notes: The Dissertation Colloquium is a research-basis course, and will be graded on a "Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory" basis for SJDs, with 2 credits awarded in the Fall and 1 in the Spring.
