Course Description

This seminar is a required course for third-year Fellows in the Program in Law and Public Service. It is a forum for discussing and critically considering the most pressing ethical, doctrinal, and policy questions confronting contemporary public-interest lawyers. A slate of practicing attorneys will share their experiences working in diverse fields, such as housing, immigration, criminal justice, national security, and civil and human rights. Fellows will read court papers, cases, articles, and books that bear upon class themes. The course is intended as a capstone to the Program in Law and Public Service—an opportunity for Fellows to reflect upon their education and experiences, as they begin to transition to careers in public service. Students will receive one pass/fail credit for attendance, preparation, and participation. The course will meet five or six times (typically on Sunday evenings) over the course of the academic year
