Course Description

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs and activities. It has revolutionized educational opportunities for girls and women and stands as one of the most effective civil rights laws of our time. This course focuses on current Title IX law and policy that governs such issues as athletics and sexual harassment. Students will complete a short paper that critiques the effectiveness of Title IX law and policy for a specific aspect of sex discrimination.
