Course Description

Privacy protection is emerging as one of the most critical legal and practical issues of the Information Age. This course covers the development and scope of the increasingly complex law of privacy, from its origins in common law to the complex web of privacy regulations in use today. Substantive issues covered are expected to include the philosophical bases of privacy protection; internet and consumer privacy; the intersection of privacy and the First Amendment; privacy and law enforcement; protection of health information; and privacy regulation and enforcement regimes, including international approaches.
