Course Description
This class will examine how the topic of corruption is addressed in several different legal domains including criminal law (bribery, extortion, fraud, and deprivation of honest services, etc.), election law, constitutional law (including the Emoluments Clauses and the First Amendment’s treatment of campaign finance laws) and others. In addition, the course will explore how best to define and understand corruption, drawing on the work of philosophers and legal scholars.

Written Work Product
Written Work Product: Students will be required to write short response papers on a weekly basis (submitted directly to instructor, not via EXPO), as well as a longer (10-15 pages) paper at the end of the semester. The end-of-term paper will be due via EXPO no later than noon on the last day of the exam period.
