Camilyn K. Leone

Camilyn Kuhns Leone teaches the Nonprofit Clinic at the Law School and consults with 501(c)(3) organizations on fund raising. Her specialty is the legal aspects of philanthropy. Leone provides fund raising audits, advises on compliance with state and federal regulations, and drafts gift agreements for organizations and individual donors.

Leone is a consultant for GG+A, an international philanthropic consulting firm, and legal adviser for PlannedGiving.com, an on-line marketing and publishing firm for nonprofits. 

She was previously the associate director for the Office of Gift Planning at UVA, where she assisted donors with complex gifts to all areas of the University. She held similar positions at the University of Pittsburgh, the Indiana University Foundation and Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Prior to starting her career in philanthropy, Leone was an attorney for the Indiana Department of Revenue. She has been a faculty member at The Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, an instructor at numerous law and philanthropy conferences, and has published articles and books journals including the “Planned Giving Bible: A Desktop Reference for Professional Gift Planners.

As a volunteer, she has served on the board of several nonprofits, including the Junior League of Charlottesville. She resides in Albemarle County with her husband, two children and flock of Navajo-Churro sheep.
