Elaine Poon

Elaine Poon is the managing attorney of the Charlottesville office of the Legal Aid Justice Center. Her work focuses on economic justice. Legal Aid fights injustice in the lives of individual Virginians while rooting out exploitative policies and practices that keep people in poverty.
Poon moved to Virginia from Atlanta, where she was a senior staff attorney at the Atlanta Legal Aid Society Inc. There, she represented low-income individuals in a variety of areas including predatory lending, disability rights, heir property, elder law and domestic violence prevention.
Poon is committed to a holistic approach to lawyering that seeks to address systemic causes of injustice. She teaches Consumer Law at the Law School.
