James L. Malone III

James L. Malone III is a retired partner of Winston & Strawn. He served as partner from 2003-06 in the Tax Department.
Malone served as a law clerk from 1972-74 on the U.S. Court of Claims (now U.S. Court of Federal Claims and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit); trial attorney and senior trial attorney, 1974-82, Tax Division, U.S. Department of Justice; partner, 1983-2000, Tax Department and chair of the Tax Controversy Group, McDermott Will & Emery; and vice president, law, and general counsel, 2000-03, The NewPower Company.
