Laura Riposo VanDruff

Laura Riposo VanDruff is an assistant director of the Division of Privacy and Identity Protection at the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, D.C., where her practice includes enforcement of certain laws related to health privacy and security.

Prior to joining the staff of the commission, she represented clients in complex civil litigation, including pharmaceutical product liability matters. She served as trial counsel defending Wyeth in the diet drug litigations. In addition, she represented a trade organization before the District of Vermont in Sorrell v. IMS Health Inc., a First Amendment challenge to a state law restricting pharmaceutical marketing. Her experience includes jury trials, bench trials and arguments in courts across the country.

VanDruff received her degree from UVA Law in 2002. She was inducted into the Raven Society, and the University recognized her contributions to the Law School community with the Daniel Rosenbloom and National Association of Women Lawyers awards.
