Susan Merchant

Susan Merchant has worked as a compliance officer since 2006 in global banking institutions located in the U.S., London and Hong Kong. Merchant currently works for a global financial services company supporting their transaction banking business.
Prior to joining the financial services industry, Merchant worked as an attorney specializing in residential real estate. She worked in private practice, and as general counsel and director of operations for a New York-based real estate services company, engaged in providing services to national lending institutions such as Bank of New York and JPMorgan Chase.
Merchant graduated from the Law School in 1994 and has a B.A. in American history from the University of Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of John F. Merchant ’58, the first Black graduate of the Law School. Merchant is also the first Black legacy of the Law School.
