Weaver Gaines

Weaver Gaines teaches the short course Start-up of a Medtech Company. He is a co-founder, president, and CEO of OBMedical Company, an early stage medical device company, as well as the non-executive chair of the board at Nanotherapeutics Inc. He was also a co-founder of Ixion Biotechnology Inc., serving as its CEO from 1993 to 2002 and again from 2005 to 2007. Previously, he was a senior adviser to the Bush/Quayle campaign in 1992, and prior to that was executive vice president of law and external affairs and general counsel of the Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York, where he also managed most of the non-insurance financial operations. He was vice president of Strategic Projects, Indian Head Inc., from 1979 to 1985. He began his career with Dewey Ballantine (now Dewey Le Boeuf) in New York City.
While in law school he was elected to the Order of the Coif. After graduating, he served as a captain in the U.S. Army Infantry for two years.
Gaines will be in office from Oct. 22-Nov. 1, 2018.
