Roger H. Kimmel teaches Inside the Boardroom at the Law School.

He is vice chairman of Rothschild Inc. Prior to joining Rothschild, Kimmel was a partner in the law firm of Latham & Watkins, where his practice focused on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and corporate governance matters.

Kimmel’s focus in investment banking has been on public company M&A, contested and private equity transactions, cross-border, complex shareholder issues and special committee representations. He also has extensive corporate governance experience and expertise gained as a director and adviser.

He was a founder of a publicly traded pharmaceutical company and has served on several public company boards in industries ranging from software development and pharmaceutical to utility, motion picture production and nutrition.

Kimmel is non-executive chairman of the Board of Endo International plc, and is a member of Endo’s Nominating and Governance, and Audit and Compensation committees. He is a director of PG&E Corp. and a member of its Finance and Nominating and Governance Committees, and is chairman of its Compliance and Public Policy Committee.

He was chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Virginia School of Law Foundation from 2009 to 2015 and was a director of the Riverdale Country School from 2010 to 2016. Kimmel was a director of Chairmen’s Forum Inc., a peer exchange for independent board leaders formed to discuss common issues related to board leadership and to enhance public company governance.

Kimmel has been a keynote speaker at The Conference Board Center on “Best Practices for Board Effectiveness in Turbulent Times,” Corporate Governance Aspects of Private Equity Transactions, and at the Director’s Institute on Role of Boards of Directors in Dealing with Private Equity Firms. He is also a frequent speaker on dealing with activists and corporate governance.
