Melissa Scheeren joined the library team as a research librarian in January 2023. Scheeren was previously at the Congressional Research Service, where she was a law librarian in the American Law Division, serving members of Congress, congressional committees and staff.
Prior to her work at the Congressional Research Service, she was a library associate for the Arlington County detention facility and plaza branch libraries, and an associate law librarian for the Fairfax County Courthouse’s public law library.
She worked as a pro bono assistant for the Northern Virginia Pro Bono Law Center for three years and is an active member of the Virginia Bar.
Scheeren earned her M.S. in information from Florida State University in 2022, her J.D. from George Washington University Law School in 2008 and her B.H.S. from the University of Florida in 2003.
